Simon Guobadia is facing a new legal fight following the financial fallout from his divorce from Porsha Williams. A Georgia federal indictment returned October 27 charges the businessman with two counts of aiding and assisting in the preparation of allegedly false federal tax returns.
The accusations concern filings submitted in 2021. Prosecutors allege that a March 2021 filing reported zero taxable income while his company, Simcol Petroleum Limited, recorded more than $45 million in gross sales, and that a July 2021 filing claimed $58,231 in taxable income against roughly $31 million in gross sales. Each count carries a maximum of three years in prison. An indictment is an accusation, not a finding of guilt, and the reporting reviewed does not establish that he has been arrested in this case.
Separately, an August 2026 agreement settled the former couple’s property dispute. Under that settlement, Guobadia transferred his remaining interest in their Atlanta mansion to Williams, reimbursed her $1,568,181.63 in equity, and signed over the title to a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost. Williams also received authority to refinance or sell the mansion without his approval.
The two developments involve different proceedings. The criminal allegations concern Guobadia’s tax filings; the divorce settlement concerns the former spouses’ finances and property. Williams is not accused of wrongdoing in the reported indictment.
