This is how you use a platform. Tyler Perry — a man who famously does NOT do restaurant shout-outs — just gave Atlanta’s Southern Fire Kitchen the co-sign of a lifetime, and he didn’t hold back one word.
In his own words: “Never have I eaten at a restaurant where I can’t choose what to eat cause everything tastes amazing. Y’all know it has to be special if I’m talking about it because I don’t do this. But when I tell you everything on the menu tastes better and better. Southern Fire Kitchen is truly southern fiyah!!”

The Black-woman-owned soul food kitchen — from owners Marie McAdoo and Latrice Winfrey — now has TWO Georgia locations: the Buford Highway spot Tyler pulled up to (3375 Buford Hwy NE, Suite 1050, Atlanta) and Fayetteville (185 New Hope Road), where a second location just opened its doors.

The plates explain the hype all by themselves: the grilled lamb chops everybody films, a mac & cheese that pulls for days, turkey chops, Krispy fried chicken, collard greens, candied yams and honey butter cornbread. Since Tyler’s post, his comments are a flood of one question — “what’s the address?” Get ready for the line, Southern Fire.

And because Tyler Perry never stops working: his new film “The Gospel of Christmas” — shot right here in Atlanta at Tyler Perry Studios, with a Kirk Franklin-produced soundtrack and a cast stacked with Fantasia, Tank, CeCe Winans, Shirley Caesar and The Clark Sisters — gets its big premiere Monday night, ahead of its Netflix debut on Wednesday, November 11. Watch the trailer:
A billionaire who still pulls up to Buford Highway to support Black women building something — and tags them so the whole world pulls up too. That’s the blueprint, and he’s not the only one: Drake just did the same thing for one of his favorite restaurants. More of this, please.
