Nicki Minaj’s eyebrow-raising performance at Sunday’s Grammy Awards isn’t getting positive reviews from The Catholic League. The League’s President, Bill Donahue, has written a post on their website titled “Is Nicki Minaj Possessed?” Donahue describes Nicki’s performance as “vulgar,” noting that The Recording Academy deserves blame for letting her put on such a performance. Donahue says it’s “bad enough” that Catholics have to face “a hostile administration in Washington,” adding that now they have to “fend off attacks in the entertainment industry.” Nicki debuted a song called “Roman Holiday” at the Grammys with a performance that included a fake pope and an exorcism.
Minaj defended her performance, on Monday stoping by Ryan Seacrest’s radio show saying, “It’s funny because it was the most comfortable I’ve ever been on stage in my entire life.†She went on to say “My fan base, they understand every single thing because Roman was created two years ago. I’ve been writing the story for a long time and yesterday was his coming-out party. It just was very literal and streamlined if you know who Roman is and if you don’t know the Roman character, you have to digest it.â€
She was playing a character named Roman in her performance, and she was trying to show that he’s able to rise above everyone who’s “telling him he’s not good enough.”
Was yall feeling it? I was like what the hell?
The fake Pope looks too happy to be at the Grammy’s. Nicki Minaj is getting too much publicity for this failed stunt.
