Katherine Jackson is reportedly selling MJ films and family videos to make a new movie. I really don’t know how I feel about how MJ’s family profiting off his goods and private moments in the form of movies and money. But, MJ seems to be just as big in death as he was in life.

The homies over at Mediaoutrage are reporting that Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine has reportedly struck a deal to produce and distribute a series of movies based on the life of her late son, even though Michael Jackson’s estate is the only party with exclusive rights to market Michael Jackson’s name and image.

According to TMZ, Katherine is partnering with Howard Mann, who also co-authored her coffee-table book, “Never Can Say Goodbye.” He’s said to be producing a movie that will feature video from Michael Jackson’s childhood through the end of his life. Katherine reportedly has hundreds of hours of video, including footage of the family’s move from Gary, Indiana to Los Angeles after the Jackson 5 signed with Motown.

Mann also reportedly paid an eight-figure sum for the rights to 26 hours of Michael Jackson video owned by the King of Pop’s former business partner/confidant Marc Schaffel. According to TMZ, Mann says he’s comfortable with his legal position against MJ’s estate, because the beneficiaries of the estate — Katherine and Michael’s three children — are profiting participants in the movie.

“The estate would not comment, but as far as our research shows, there’s no loophole when it comes to marketing Michael Jackson’s name and image,” TMZ stated, “whether Katherine and the kids are beneficiaries or not.”

If you asked my opinion I would say it’s great that they are putting the family video diaries on display, but at what point do they remember somethings need to remain private… What yall think?
