On Date of Aaliyah’s Death; Timbaland Denies Suicide Rumors

On this date (Aug 25) in 2001, the beautiful and talented singer Aaliyah passed away. While at the height of her career, her music was almost synonymous with tag team production by Missy Elliot and Timbaland. Today, nine years later in a very bizzarre case of irony, rumors surfaced today of a possible Timbaland suicide attempt.

Allegedly, the super producer was robbed of a 2 million dollar watch, went missing for several hours distraught over it, and may have been suicidal. Well, Timbo called in to the Ryan Seacrest show to set the record straight.

I don’t even know what happened, to be honest. I don’t know what people are talking about…Why would I commit suicide? The only thing I did was take a drive to figure out how I’m going to handle [the theft].

Wonderful to hear he’s okay. He also cleared up that he was robbed but not of a watch.  Its pretty horrible that this happened to Timbaland today. He was extremely close to Aaliyah and probably didn’t want to deal with the rumor mill on the anniversary of her death. R.I.P. Aaliyah.
