FreddyO’s camera was on Peter Street in Atlanta when Miami rapper Rick Ross had a run-in with Atlanta police outside a tattoo shop. In the footage, officers place Ross in handcuffs on the sidewalk as a crowd gathers to watch the scene unfold. Ross was later let go, and he walked away from the incident. We are reporting exactly what the video shows, and you can watch the full clip for yourself and see the moment as it happened.
The incident happened while Ross was in Atlanta during a busy stretch for the rapper. His third studio album, Deeper Than Rap, is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 21, and his single ‘Magnificent’ with John Legend is currently in rotation. Ross, the founder of Maybach Music Group, has been one of the most visible names in rap over the past year, coming off the success of his 2008 album Trilla and singles like ‘Here I Am’ and ‘The Boss.’
No further details about the stop were available at the time this footage was shot, and the video does not show Ross being charged with any offense. What it does show is a brief detention on a public sidewalk, officers speaking with the rapper while onlookers recorded the scene on their phones, and Ross being released shortly afterward. FreddyO will update this story if any official information about the incident becomes available.
