The Cities Major Typo… Come On People How Yall Miss This One???

I know I cant spell but the come on people how do you miss this.?.?. There is definitely something wrong at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Vine Street near the Atlanta University Center.

It’s not the wires that have fallen and litter the street and the sidewalk. You have to look closer. And even then you still might not catch it, just like ITC student Jamin Powell who was walking past.

“Martin Luther King Jr.,” he said reading the street sign. I ask him to take a closer look.

“Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Northwest,” he said. I again ask him to take a closer look.

“Ohh…” he laughed, finally spotting the mistake. “Wow. Wow. It’s definitely not ‘Martin’ is it.”

No, it isn’t. The street sign is misspelled. It says “Marin” Luther King Drive — Not Martin.

We asked several residents who’ve been coming by here for years. Not one of them caught the mistake.

“That is funny,” chuckled Morehouse student Jason Culmer, who had to read it twice. “That is funny.”

But nobody laughs for long.

Indeed, many wonder how such a glaring mistake could be made in the very birthplace of MLK, just a few blocks away from where he went to college.

“As a student of his alma mater,” said Culmer, “one, it’s funny; two, it’s discouraging. It raises questions of who was over that.”

Atlanta may be the city too busy to hate, but it cannot afford to be too busy to spell check. City officials say now that they know about the error, it will be fixed within 48 hours.

“I can’t believe I walk past this all the time,” said student Powell, echoing the sentiments of the rest of the residents here along Marin — er — Martin Luther King Drive.
