The 2nd Annual Courageous Awards was a night of strength, healing, and love.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, Karlie Redd and her Big Heart Foundation filled the Atlanta Central Library to celebrate domestic violence survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Karlie started the Courageous Awards after her own experience with domestic violence. When she reached out to her friend Yandy Smith, Yandy said, “Let’s do an award show.” Now it’s in its second year.

Survivors and advocates were honored on stage throughout the night, including Tamika Paige, Cole Parker, Dr. Sathya Callender, Stephanie McGraw, and Joi Hunt. Each honoree’s story filled the room — a reminder of why nights like this matter, and why the work continues long after the awards are handed out.
Yandy Smith-Harris stood with Karlie through the evening and brought her daughter along so she could hear these women’s stories firsthand and learn the warning signs — the kind of lesson that can change, and save, a life.

Then came a big surprise: the City of South Fulton proclaimed Oct. 28, 2026, Yandy Smith-Harris Appreciation Day, honoring Yandy’s advocacy and her commitment to standing with survivors.
