Atlanta Heating Assistance Start Date Still Pending: What Households Can Prepare Now

Atlanta and Fulton County households hoping to receive help with heating bills should watch for an update from the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority.

As of October 31, 2026, the agency’s website lists the LIHEAP heating program’s start date as to be determined. It directs residents to check back December 1 for updates concerning seniors age 65 and older. December 1 is an update date, not a confirmed application opening.

LIHEAP helps eligible low-income households with home energy costs. Applicants must meet program requirements, and assistance depends on available funding.

The agency lists required documents including current gas and electric bills, valid photo identification, Social Security cards for household members and proof of income for adult household members covering the previous 30 days. Adults without income must complete a zero-income form during the appointment.

Residents should check the agency’s latest instructions before scheduling or traveling. Anyone facing an immediate disconnection can contact 211 for other possible assistance.
