The Songwriters Hall of Fame just announced its nominees for the Class of 2027 — and NE-YO is officially on the ballot.

The R&B superstar (born Shaffer Smith) earned his nomination in the performing songwriter category on the strength of a catalog most artists only dream about: he wrote “Irreplaceable” for Beyoncé, “Take a Bow” for Rihanna, “Let Me Love You” for Mario and “Give Me Everything” for Pitbull — plus his own timeless classic, “So Sick.”
This isn’t Ne-Yo’s first honor from the Hall: he received the Hal David Starlight Award back in 2012, recognizing him as a gifted songwriter at the top of his game. Now he’s in line for full induction.
He shares the 2027 ballot with Lady Gaga, Shakira, P!NK, Boy George, Jack White, Sia, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Vince Gill and fellow nominee Kandi Burruss. Voting members have until midnight EST on December 14 to cast their ballots — only six of the 26 nominees will be inducted, with the Class of 2027 announced early next year.
Congratulations, Ne-Yo — the pen is finally getting its flowers!
