The Imprint Of Jesse Williams’s Words!

Let me just start by saying that the 4 minutes of spotlight that Jesse Williams was allotted had the potential to change someone’s life. While he was speaking last night I was speechless as I’m sure many others were. The truth was reiterated time and time again in Jesse’s speech at the BET Awards when he was presented with the Humanitarian Award.

Jesse started his speech off strong and humble, saying that the award was not just for him but the struggling people all over the world. He gave special and much needed recognition to the African-American women and mothers of the world because he realizes that they are rarely appreciated daily for everything they go through. Beyond this he goes into talking about the racial dynamics of this country and the breakdown of where it all starts.

Yes, African-Americans were oppressed (and still are) and our ancestors fought to get us out of oppression so why do we continue to do the dirty work for them by oppressing ourselves? His speech was honestly a s for everyone to wake up because it i so much bigger than making money and throwing a couple of name brands on your body.

Look at the bigger picture!

I strongly urge everyone to take 4 valuable minutes of your life and analyze each bullet that Jesse hits in his speech, it is amazing.

Btw, Jesse graduated from Temple University which is my school! Great minds really do think alike, that gives me so much hope for the future!

Who enjoyed this year’s BET awards? As I mentioned yesterday, many people were shocked at the fact that Beyoncé’s dancers had made an appearance and they wondered if that meant Yoncé was in the building. Well, again to everyone’s surprise she was and she performed a powerful song from her album, Lemonade. Can anyone guess which one it was?

2016 BET Awards - Show

“Freedom, Freedom, I can’t move. Freedom cut me loose.” Yes, Beyonce along with the talented genius Kendrick Lamar performed “Freedom” last night. Not only was it an amazing performance because of who they are but also because of the severe messages that pierced through each word, each note, and each movement.

When you are educated you start to see the world in an entirely new perspective and every little thing carries a lot of weight. With that said, the underlying messages in their performances literally brought me to tears.

If you gave up on BET before I now encourage you to go check out this latest show because that was not the only profound moment of that night!

Positivity, peace and love is what it is all about.

Obama: Simply the best!

On January 20th, 2009 the White House became inhabited by its 44th and first black president. His name was Barack Hussein Obama. America was ready for change. He defeated Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton in 2007 and in 2008 went on to defeat Republican John McCAin making Black History and sating America’s demand all in one day.

His presidency though has not been a bed of roses! During his first year in office, his citizenship was questioned, his race was questioned, his ability to be bipartisan with regards to politics and specifically to racism in america was questioned and with dignity and professionalism Obama wore that megabillion dollar smile and his response to his critics was “Yes I can,” that was 8 years ago.

Last night at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, President Obama delivered his final speech and in Obama fashion jeered, “It is an honor to be here at my last and perhaps the last  White House Correspondents’ Dinner, you all look great. The end of the Republic has never looked better. ” Obama was stacking bodies with the shots he was firing!

The President’s speech was laden with shade, humor, sardonism at its highest, but most importantly sincerity and a relativity of sadness that we could all relate to, he was in good spirits though and ready for the night. After his intro he started off roasting himself with self-deprecating jokes about his appearance and how his eight year term had given him his ‘salt and pepper tresses’. Eight years ago, I was a young man, full of idealism and vigor, and look at me now. I am gray and grizzled, just counting down the days ’til my death panel.” He went on to speak about the disparaging racial joke between Hillary Clinton and New York Mayor Joe Diblasio apologizing for his tardiness, “I was running on C.P.T.  which stands for “jokes that white people should not make.” It’s a tip for you, Jeff.

The commander in chief wasn’t done yet though, he reloaded that 12 gauge and kept on firing, blasting the GOP’s Chairman Reince Priebus. “Glad to see you that you feel that you’ve earned a night off”, he jeered, Congratulations on all your success! The Republican Party, the nomination process, it’s all going great; keep it up.” the crowd was in uproar!

Barack Obama

As his address was coming to a close the President alluded that he had said all that he was going to say, you could almost hear the disappointment in the crowd, but he was just playing! The commander is known for his colorful humor and this crowd was not exempt from being his victims! In my best Vanessa Williams sultry voice he saved the best for last! It was time to give Trump his last 15 minutes (he was not in attendance), but after the 2011 sizing up that Obama spewed at him, i think that was the smart thing for him to do!

Obama noted Trump’s absence and he didn’t let him off easy, “Although I am a little hurt that he’s not here tonight. We had so much fun the last time and it is surprising. You’ve got a room full of reporters, celebrities, cameras, and he says no? Is this dinner too tacky for The Donald? What could he possibly be doing instead? Is he at home, eating a Trump Steak; tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel, what’s he doing?

As american’s had become accustomed to the president’s jovial personality, his sharp shooting words and piercing barbs, the president delivered in his half hour speech, but was time to say goodbye. “Anyway, here we are. My eighth and final appearance at this unique event, next year at this time, someone else will be standing here in this very spot and it’s anyone guess who she will be.” the president quipped, and with that, I just have two more words to say;Obama out.  He then dropped the microphone!

If there’s one great thing that you can say about America’s 44th president (and there are many), you can definitely say that america will never see another president that was transparently honest about who he was. Obama was the 44th president of the United States of America, he is Michelle Obama’s husband, he is a black american and he is “Simply the best!’

Welcome to Eastchester Gardens, home to some of the Bronx’s nefarious criminals and the streets are talking, or at least they will be now that the NYPD is on the move and are taking everyone that’s guilty as prisoners! According to NY1 members of the 2Fly and BMB  (Big Money Bosses) gangs were arrested and will be indicted on various charges.

Around 2 a.m. today in the Bronx, in what’s being speculated as the LARGEST gang take-down in New York City’s history, in a collaborative effort, the NYPD’s Bronx Gang Squad, U.S. Homeland Security, the DEA and ATF arrested 120 alleged rival gang members and their affiliates at multiple New York City Housing Authority developments in the borough, including the Eastchester Gardens Houses. Prosecutors say it is the most people indicted at once in New York City history.

The charges included but were not limited to, Illegal use of firearms, narcotics, drug trafficking in school districts, conspiracy and racketeering.Their arraignment is scheduled to take place in the Federal District Court in Manhattan. Since 2007, officials said the turf war between the two groups has led to shootings, stabbings, slashings, beatings and robberies.

According to the indictment, leaders of BMB referred to themselves as Big Suits, and had subcategories signifying rank, such as Burberry Suits, Louis Suits, Gucci Suits, Ferragamo Suits, and Sean John Suits. The indictments also identified the suspects by theatrical aliases ranging from “Money Making Kenny”, “Broadway”  “Mark the Gritty Shark” and “Wayne Brady”!

2Fly YGz, a.k.a 2Fly, operated around the Eastchester Gardens public housing project in the Bronx and in the vicinity of Gun Hill Road, much of their crimes were committed against rival gangs specifically BMB and Slut Gang who’s territorial claim was in the White Plains Road and Boston Road areas.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara said members of the 2Fly and BMB gangs were also connected to several homicides including the the murder of 92-year-old Sadie Mitchell who was struck and killed by a stray bullet in 2009 whiles in her Williamsbridge apartment, the 2014 shooting death of Keshon Potterfield on 232nd street, stabbing deaths of Alexander Walters, 17 in 2012 and 15 year old Jeffrey Delmore near East Gun Hill Road; Donville Simpson, also 17, shot to death in 2013.

120 arrested in massive NYC gang sweep

“We bring these charges so that all New Yorkers, including those in public housing can live their lives as they deserve; Free of drugs, free of guns, and free of gang violence,” the U.S. Attorney said.

“These gang members do not belong on our streets, instead they belong exactly where they’re going, in federal prison for many years where they won’t be surrounded by their buddies, they won’t be close to their families, and they’ll no longer be free to terrorize the neighborhoods in which they grew up,” Bratton added.

Angel Melendez, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations claimed that between the two gangs 1,800 shots had been fired among them and was responsible for the deaths of 39 people.

“Those arrested today allegedly used violence and fear to intimidate people who live within and around the Eastchester Gardens public housing,” said Angel Melendez, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations.

It was a sigh of relief and a happy day for residents of Eastchester Gardens who praised the surprise action of the Law enforcers.

“Finally we’re going to be able to sit outside with our children and grandchildren without having to worry,” said Donna Fischer, 61. “We’re getting our development back from these criminals.”

Harriet Tubman The New Face Of The $20 Dollar Bill

What do you think about Harriet Tubman replacing Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill? Well let’s explore this ideal together. In one way It makes me say, yea! But in a another way, it makes me think why now. Where is it coming from? What is the purpose for it! What are they saying this is supposed to mean. Is it going to bring recognition to Harriet Tubman in all that she did? Or is it suppose to bring attention to slavery? Let us work through this.

Your Voice Matters

It is our time to be seen and heard. The best way we can be seen and heard, is by using our vote to show what we believe and stand for. The worst thing that we can do is play into the hands of our enemy by letting him provoke us to wrath and therefore silencing our true voice. If we want to see the things we believe in happen then we must use our voices by casting our vote and letting our vote be the demonstration of our power. We have issues that need to be discussed and the only thing we’ve been hearing about during these debates are derogatory statements, signifying  words and unanswered questions. READ MORE
