I pulled up to Nana’s Chicken and Waffles, and the fried chicken, grits, waffle, peach cobbler and beignets had me ready to move in. Shamea Morton and I got the full experience.

Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles is owned by Kelli Ferrell, one of the new Housewives on RHOA Season 16, who’s known as the “Queen of Waffles.” She opened the restaurant in Conyers in 2016 and moved it to McDonough in 2022. The menu is inspired by family recipes that go back to 1939.
The waffles are the star. You can get your fried chicken with a classic waffle or go big with flavors like red velvet, lemon, apple cinnamon, cinnamon roll, peach cobbler and banana pudding. The savory side of the menu is just as strong, with shrimp and grits, catfish and grits, fried green tomatoes and New Orleans-style beignets.
Nana’s has made plenty of “best of” lists over the years, and there’s usually a wait, but people say it’s worth it. Having Shamea there with me made it even more fun.
Update: In summer 2025, Kelli opened a second Nana’s location at The Prado shopping center in Sandy Springs, so you don’t have to drive all the way to McDonough anymore.
