Another Atlanta food stop: I hit Five Daughters Bakery for their King Kong maple bacon donut and a rich chocolate cream-filled one. It’s a sugar lover’s dream.

Five Daughters Bakery is famous for its 100 Layer Donut, a cross between a croissant and a donut. It takes days to make, and you can taste it in every flaky, buttery layer. They also make classic yeast-raised donuts and paleo options.
The bakery started in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2015. Owners Isaac and Stephanie Meek named it after their five daughters, Dylan, Lucy, Maggie, Evangeline and Constance, and they make everything from scratch with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
In Atlanta, you can find Five Daughters inside Ponce City Market and at Westside Provisions District on Howell Mill Road, with another location at Avalon in Alpharetta. The King Kong I tried is one of their signature 100 Layer flavors, and it’s a must for anybody who loves that sweet and salty maple bacon combo.

Tips for Your Donut Run
Specialty donut shops often sell out of their most popular flavors early, especially on weekends. If you have your heart set on something specific, go in the morning. And if you are bringing a box to work or a party, mix classic flavors with a couple of wild ones so everybody finds something they love.
A donut this rich is a treat, not an everyday breakfast, so make it count. Share a box with friends and try a few different flavors.
