Don Toliver is going for everything at the next Grammys, including an award a lot of fans did not see coming. Along with his big category submissions, Don submitted himself for Best New Artist.
Here is why people are talking. Don’s debut album, Donny Womack, came out in 2018, one day before Travis Scott’s Astroworld, where his feature on “Can’t Say” made him a household name. He has dropped several albums since then and is a regular on the festival circuit.
He also submitted his album OCTANE for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album, “E85” for Best Rap Song, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Melodic Rap Performance, and “BODY” for Best Rap Performance.
It would not be the first time a veteran won the newcomer award. Victoria Monét took home Best New Artist a few years ago after more than a decade in the industry. Whether Don actually gets nominated is still up in the air.
Does Don Toliver count as a new artist? Let us know.
