A federal judge has officially approved AT&T’s $177 MILLION settlement over two massive data breaches in 2024 that exposed millions of customers’ personal information — including Social Security numbers, phone numbers and call records.
Here’s how the money breaks down. Customers who documented financial losses from the FIRST breach can get up to $5,000. Documented losses from the SECOND breach pay up to $2,500. And if you were hit by BOTH breaches and filed qualifying losses for each one, you could be looking at up to $7,500 total.
Now here’s the part nobody wants to hear: if you didn’t document financial losses, your payment will be MUCH smaller. And if you never filed a claim at all, that window is closed — the deadline to file was December 18, 2025, and new claims are no longer being accepted.
The settlement got its final approval on October 2, 2026 — but the checks have NOT started going out. According to the official settlement administrator, payments are not expected to go out in 2026 while the appeals process plays out. So if you filed, your money is real — it’s just not coming this year.
If you already submitted a claim, you can check your status and follow updates at the official administrator site, TelecomDataSettlement.com. And a word of caution: settlement money brings out scammers. Never pay anybody a fee to “release” your check, and only trust the official site.
Were you an AT&T customer in 2024 — and did you get your claim in before the deadline?
