The ladies of Xscap3 brought their harmonies to the radio when Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Tamika Scott stopped by The Rickey Smiley Morning Show — and yes, they sang live on the air. Fresh off the packed-out dates of their big reunion tour, the trio proved once again that those famous voices have not missed a single beat. FreddyO was in the building for the whole visit.
The past year has been one long celebration for Xscape fans. After the group’s show-stopping BET Awards reunion, the Essence Festival and their Bravo series Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, the ladies hit the road on The Great Xscape Tour and reminded the whole country why they are R&B royalty. Now, performing as Xscap3 while LaTocha Scott takes some time away, the trio is keeping the music coming — their brand new EP, Here For It, is out today, and the ladies came to Rickey’s show ready to talk about it and sing about it.
There is no hiding on live radio, and that is exactly the point. With no studio tricks, the three voices blended the way they have since the So So Def days, running through the harmonies that made songs like “Understanding” and “Who Can I Run To” timeless. Rickey and the crew — family here in Atlanta, where the show is based — kept the laughs coming between the music, and the ladies looked right at home.
