When Jennifer Hudson opens her mouth to sing “And I Am Telling You,” you already know the whole room is about to shift! FreddyO caught J-Hud delivering the kind of performance that reminds everybody why she is one of the greatest voices of her generation, and if you have never heard her tear into this song live, prepare yourself for chills from the first note to the last.
The song became her signature the moment she embodied Effie White in “Dreamgirls” and carried that role all the way into Oscar history. All these years later, the power has not faded one bit. Every run, every growl, every tear-soaked crescendo lands like she is living the story in real time, and the crowd feels every ounce of it. This is not a cover; this is a masterclass.
What makes Jennifer special is that the gift is matched by the journey. From singing in church in Chicago to American Idol, to Broadway, to the big screen, her voice has carried her through triumph and heartbreak, and you can hear all of it when she sings. That is why a room full of people can go from shouting to completely silent in seconds when she reaches for those big notes.

Singers, take notes: this is how you leave it all on the stage.
