Every year, Kandi Burruss gives out more than 1,000 turkeys to families across Georgia. TV star Kandi kept the tradition going again this Thanksgiving.
The giveaway runs through Kandi Cares, her nonprofit foundation that supports single parents and their children. Every Thanksgiving, the foundation turns into a pop-up grocery line, with volunteers loading cars with turkeys, collard greens, cornbread, stuffing, fruit, vegetables and all the sides families need for a full holiday meal.
This is personal for Kandi. She grew up in East Point, and in past years she has teamed up with the City of East Point Parks and Recreation and the Atlanta food-rescue company Goodr to pull it off. Her mom, Mama Joyce, has been known to come out and work the line with her too.
Kandi has said the goal is to be an extra village for families who need a little help, especially with how expensive the holidays have gotten. Between the Real Housewives of Atlanta, her music and her businesses, she stays busy, but she makes time to show up for her community every year.

How You Can Help This Holiday Season
Giveaways like this take a lot of hands. If you want to give back in your own community, local food banks, churches and nonprofits are always looking for volunteers around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Donating canned goods, time or even sharing information about events with families who need it can make a real difference.
Seeing someone like Kandi stay committed to her hometown year after year is inspiring. Fame can take people far away from where they started, but she keeps coming back to East Point.
Shout out anybody in your community who gives back every year in the comments.
