Georgia just went BLUE from top to bottom. On Election Night 2026, Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected Governor of Georgia AND U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff won re-election — a clean Democratic sweep of the state’s two biggest races.
Bottoms defeated Republican Rick Jackson with about 55% of the vote, becoming the first Black governor in Georgia history, the state’s first woman governor, and the first Black woman ever elected governor in the United States. She is also the first Democrat to win the Governor’s Mansion since 1998, ending 24 years of Republican control.

Ossoff’s win was the first major race call of the night. The Associated Press projected the 39-year-old senator to a second six-year term over Republican Rep. Mike Collins, with Ossoff pulling about 59% of the vote as results came in. He was the only incumbent Senate Democrat defending a seat in a state President Trump carried — and he held it.
Kandi Burruss saw it coming. Earlier today she urged Georgia to ‘bring it home’ for both Bottoms and Ossoff — and tonight, Georgia did exactly that. Kandi also co-hosted a fundraiser for Bottoms here in Atlanta last month alongside FreddyO.
Bottoms will be sworn in this January, succeeding term-limited Gov. Brian Kemp. Ossoff heads back to Washington for six more years.
