Paige Bueckers is being recognized for work that reaches beyond her basketball statistics. The WNBA announced November 5 that the Dallas Wings guard has won the 2026 Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award for efforts supporting young people, education and access to essential resources.

The league highlighted projects in Minnesota and Dallas, including youth basketball activities, support for students and work addressing food insecurity. It also cited her partnership with Goodr on a free grocery store at Hopkins West Junior High School and a $50,000 contribution to the Hopkins Education Foundation.
The award comes with another contribution: the WNBA will donate $10,000 to Good Sports, the nonprofit Bueckers selected. The organization helps children access sports through equipment, apparel and footwear. In its announcement, the league credited her use of partnerships to create opportunities for communities important to her.
At the same time, a separate basketball development is giving fans a reunion to watch. CT Insider reported November 4 that Kaitlyn Chen will join Bueckers on Breeze Basketball Club for the coming Unrivaled season. The former UConn teammates were part of the Huskies’ 2025 national championship team.

The reported Breeze roster also includes Kahleah Copper, DiJonai Carrington, Dominique Malonga and Monique Billings. That makes the reunion part of a wider team story, giving supporters a new setting in which to follow the two guards together.
Bueckers’ week therefore carries two different kinds of news: recognition for her community work and a new chapter with a familiar teammate. The service award offers specific examples of where her visibility and partnerships are being directed, while the Unrivaled announcement returns attention to what comes next on the court.
For younger fans, both developments are worth seeing together. The next team roster matters, and so does the work an athlete chooses to support away from the game.
