Adam Driver is closing the door on a Star Wars project fans had hoped would bring him back as Kylo Ren. In comments covered by Entertainment Weekly on November 5, the actor said the standalone film he developed with Steven Soderbergh is no longer moving forward.

Driver discussed the project on The Rich Eisen Show while promoting Paper Tiger. He described spending years developing it with collaborators, but said the decision about another film was outside his control. His comments are the latest word on that proposed project rather than a studio announcement about every possible future use of the character.
Meanwhile, audiences will soon have a different Driver performance to watch. Regal‘s current listing places the theatrical opening of Paper Tiger on November 13. Directed by James Gray, the crime drama also stars Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson and follows two brothers whose attempt to improve their circumstances pulls their family into a dangerous scheme.

The Museum of the Moving Image has announced a related event for November 12: a preview screening with Gray appearing in person at its Redstone Theater in Astoria, New York. The museum describes a story set in mid-1980s New York, with Driver playing a former police officer who brings his brother into a deal involving local Russians.
The museum lists the screening as free, courtesy of NEON, with reservation priority for members. Readers interested in attending should check the event page for the current reservation status rather than assume seats remain available.
These two developments put Driver’s comments in the context of his current work. While the proposed Kylo Ren film has reached an apparent end, Paper Tiger has a dated release and a scheduled public preview. Fans looking for his next performance have something concrete to follow, even as the project that sparked the Star Wars discussion remains shelved.
