Keke Palmer is all grown up, and she is making sure the whole world knows it. The actress takes on the boldest role of her career in the gritty new film Pimp, and FreddyO is recapping the movie everybody is talking about. Playing a young Bronx hustler fighting for money, love and a way forward, Keke delivers the kind of raw, fearless performance that officially closes the door on her child-star era.
What stands out most is how completely Keke disappears into this role. She carries the film with a toughness and an edge we have never seen from her before, and you can feel how personal this project is to her in every scene. With Lee Daniels executive producing, Pimp has been years in the making, and Keke has been front and center the whole way, promoting it like an artist who knows exactly what this moment means for her career.
Between the movies, the music and the hosting gigs, Keke is building a grown-woman resume fully on her own terms, and Atlanta has watched her do it step by step. Pimp is not an easy watch, but it is proof that she can hold down a leading dramatic role with anybody. If you have been sleeping on this new chapter of Keke Palmer, consider this your wake-up call, because she is just getting started.
