Before Bel-Air, there was Philly. The story of how Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff came up is headed to TV in a new scripted series called 215, named after Philadelphia’s area code.

The show is being developed by Westbrook Studios, Will Smith’s production company, and The Malar Group. It’s the first project from the two companies’ new partnership. The series is loosely based on the duo’s rise, following two Philly friends chasing a record deal while helping build the city’s rap scene in the late ’80s.

Westbrook’s team says the show is about friendship, ambition and a defining era for hip-hop. It’s still in development, so there’s no network, cast or premiere date yet.
