Georgia Governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms is assembling the team that will prepare her administration to take office, and Tyler Perry is among its leaders.
Bottoms announced the transition leadership on November 6. WSB-TV reported that Perry, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and Jason Carter are among the co-chairs of the effort called Georgia’s Promise. Former insurance commissioner John King has been selected to oversee its operations.

The transition will work across areas including affordability, health care and education. Bottoms said Georgians should receive opportunities to build businesses, pursue education and raise families with dignity.
Her administration is also signaling an early health-care priority. WALB reported that Bottoms supports Medicaid expansion, though the transition has not yet provided a detailed funding plan.

Outgoing Governor Brian Kemp has offered state staff and resources to support the transfer of power, according to 41NBC.
The appointments give Bottoms’ transition both business and public-service experience as she prepares to govern. Perry’s participation also brings one of Georgia’s most influential entertainment figures into the process.
