Kandi Burruss Speaks on Kim Zolciak Beef and Reveals the Kandi Factory

Kandi Burruss is done letting other folks tell her side of the story for her. FreddyO caught up with the singer, songwriter and Real Housewives of Atlanta star as she opened up about the tension between her and castmate Kim Zolciak, a friendship that once gave us studio sessions and plenty of laughs but has since turned into dueling interviews and shady sound bites. Kandi keeps it all the way real about where things stand between them, and she does it in her own words and on her own terms.

If you have been watching the Housewives like we have, you know the Kandi and Kim saga has been simmering for a while now, from the Tardy for the Party era all the way to the reunion couch, where every little comment gets replayed and picked apart. Kandi explains how it feels to watch someone you once rocked with turn into a rival on national TV, and why she refuses to let a storyline rewrite a friendship she actually lived. Rasheeda from love and hip hop pregnant

Congratulations are in order for the Boss Chick herself. Rasheeda, Atlanta’s own rap queen and star of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, is pregnant, and FreddyO has the word straight from Rasheeda herself. The news has the whole city talking, because if there is one thing Rasheeda knows how to do, it is give everybody a moment, and a new baby on the way is about as big as moments get.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is about to take over our Monday nights all over again, and Rasheeda is right at the center of the conversation, exactly where she belongs. She has been holding this city down in music for years, all while building her brand, her business and her family, and standing ten toes down through all of it. A new addition to the Frost family adds a whole new layer to her story this season, and we already know the cameras will be there to catch every bit of it.

What we love most about Rasheeda is that she has never been anything but herself: a boss, a mother and an Atlanta original who moves on her own terms. However she decides to share this journey, on the show, in the music or right here with us, we will be watching and rooting for a healthy and happy new baby. FreddyO Celebrity Gossip: Kim Kardashian and Phaedra Parks vs Kenya Moore

It’s time for another FreddyO celebrity gossip roundup, and baby, the tea is piping hot this week. First up, Kim Kardashian is still the most talked-about woman in America — she and Kanye West are expecting their first baby, the whole world is watching her every outfit, and the Kardashian empire just keeps getting bigger. Then we head home to Atlanta, where “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is giving us the feud of the season: Phaedra Parks versus Kenya Moore. Press play, because FreddyO is breaking it all down.

Let’s start with Kim. Ever since Kanye announced on stage in Atlantic City that Kim is pregnant, the paparazzi have not given this woman one minute of peace. Kim is glowing, shutting down red carpets, and still building the family brand with “Kourtney & Kim Take Miami” on TV. Say what you want about the Kardashians, but Kim turned reality fame into a full business, and now with a baby on the way, everybody wants to know what’s next — the wedding talk, the baby name talk, all of it.

Now back to the A, where season five of RHOA is pure chaos in the best way. Kenya Moore came in twirling and shaking up the whole cast, and her business dealings with Phaedra Parks have gone completely left — a workout video partnership that started friendly has turned into accusations, shade and two competing booties, Phaedra’s Donkey Booty against Kenya’s Stallion Booty. Phaedra, the southern belle attorney, is not the one to play with, and Kenya is not backing down an inch. Atlanta is choosing sides, and so are we — Team Phaedra or Team Kenya? R&B Divas KeKe Wyatt Defends Husband Over Homophobic scene

Y’all are already talking about TV One’s brand new show R&B Divas, and the premiere gave everybody plenty to say — especially when it comes to KeKe Wyatt and her husband, Michael. A scene from the show has folks questioning Michael, and KeKe is not here for anybody coming for her man. I got her to speak on it.

KeKe made it plain: she knows her husband, she knows his heart, and she is standing ten toes down beside him. What viewers saw in that scene, she says, is not the whole story of the man she married — the man who has been there for her and her babies through the best and the worst of times. If you know anything about KeKe Wyatt, you know loyalty is not just a word to her, it is who she is.

The timing could not be bigger for KeKe. R&B Divas, filmed right here in Atlanta with Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Monifah, Syleena Johnson and KeKe, just premiered and is already the show everybody is watching to see these ladies rebuild their careers and tell their own stories. Kandi Burruss knows how to keep it all the way grown and sexy! On the latest edition of Kandi Koated Nights, Kandi and her crew sat down with the cast of the summer’s hottest new show, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, and no topic was off limits. FreddyO was there as Funky Dineva — wig and all — helped hold down the interviews, getting the cast to open up about the drama everybody at home has been watching unfold every Monday night on VH1.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premiered just last month and has already taken over the conversation, with Stevie J, Joseline, Mimi and the rest of the cast giving us more quotable moments in a few episodes than most shows give in a whole season. So it only makes sense that Kandi — herself a reality TV pro thanks to The Real Housewives of Atlanta — brought them over to her own couch. Kandi Koated Nights, her late-night online talk show, is where she talks sex, relationships and everything in between, and this cast came ready to talk.

Dineva, one of Atlanta’s loudest and proudest voices on the internet, kept the questions coming and the laughs rolling as the cast dished on love, loyalty and all the on-camera mess. Joseline Hernandez From Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Attacked By Fan

An Atlanta viewing party for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta ended with an incident involving cast member Joseline Hernandez. According to reports from the scene, Hernandez was struck in the face by a fan during the event, and video from the night shows her with blood on her face following the altercation. FreddyO obtained footage from the evening, which is shared here.

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premiered on VH1 in June and has quickly become one of the most talked-about programs on television. The series follows members of Atlanta’s music community, including producer Stevie J, singer K. Michelle, rapper Rasheeda and Hernandez, who was introduced to viewers through her working and personal relationship with Stevie J. Hernandez, who is from Puerto Rico and moved to the United States to build a career in entertainment, has become one of the show’s most discussed cast members in its first weeks on the air.

Witness accounts describe a fan asking Hernandez questions before the situation escalated and Hernandez was hit. Details about what led up to the incident, and about the person involved, have not been fully confirmed, and representatives for Hernandez and the network had not issued a detailed public statement about the night at the time of this report. What is clear from the footage is that the evening, which was organized for fans to watch the show, did not end as planned.

The incident is an early reminder of how quickly public appearances tied to popular reality programs can draw large, emotional responses from viewers. Xscape Live 2012 — ‘Who Can I Run To’

Xscape fans, this one is for you! FreddyO has live footage of the ladies doing what they do best, singing their classic “Who Can I Run To” and reminding everybody why Atlanta R&B groups set the standard. No big production needed — when Kandi, Tiny, LaTocha and Tamika lock into those harmonies, the room stops. This is the song, from the Off the Hook album, that fans have been screaming for since the ’90s, and it still hits exactly the same.

Xscape came out of Atlanta under Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def and gave us Just Kickin’ It, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha and Traces of My Lipstick, records that are forever in the cookout and slow-jam rotation. “Who Can I Run To,” their take on The Jones Girls’ favorite, might be the purest showcase of what made the group special: four real singers who can blend like sisters and still each hold their own. Hearing it performed live in 2012, years after the group’s last album, proves those voices never went anywhere.

Of course, the ladies stay busy on their own these days. Kandi is a fixture on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and always has a new business cooking, and Tiny is on TV with T.I. and the family on The Family Hustle. Still, every time footage like this surfaces, the same question takes over our comments: when are we getting a real Xscape reunion? If they can still sing like this, the fans deserve it, and this performance is all the evidence anybody needs.

Waka Flocka Launch #WakaNewYear Anti Bullying Campaign

New year, new mission. Waka Flocka Flame is using the start of 2012 to talk about something bigger than music: bullying. The Brick Squad rapper has launched the #WakaNewYear anti-bullying campaign, a push aimed at young fans that says the teasing, the intimidation, and the online pile-ons have to stop — and that respect is the resolution worth keeping.

It’s a side of Waka the world doesn’t always get to see. Since Flockaveli dropped, his name has meant turn-up anthems and the loudest shows in rap. But talk to the people around him — including his mother and manager, Deb Antney, who has been out front on school and cyberbullying issues herself — and they’ll tell you the community work runs just as deep as the music. The campaign’s message to kids is direct: nobody deserves to be picked on, and speaking up for somebody else is never soft.

The timing matters, too. With stories of bullied teens making headlines, artists with real reach among young listeners carry a kind of influence no assembly speaker can match. When a rapper his fans actually listen to says the bullying has to end, the conversation changes. The #WakaNewYear tag is the invitation: fans are being asked to spread the word online and carry the same energy into their schools and neighborhoods.

FreddyO caught up with Frankie Lons, Keyshia Cole’s mom and one of reality TV’s biggest personalities, out in Atlanta with Kandi Burruss — and Frankie was in rare form, cutting up, talking her talk and showing off her legs like only she can. When Frankie is in a good mood, everybody around her is laughing, and Kandi was right there cracking up along with the rest of us.

Atlanta already knows the story. Frankie became a household name on Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is and then on her own show with Neffe, winning folks over because she never bites her tongue and never pretends to be anybody but herself. Kandi stays busy herself — holding it down on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, writing hits, and building her businesses — but even a boss like Kandi has to sit back and enjoy the show when Frankie gets going.
