Boys Sing Boyz II Men ‘Thank You’ Acapella To Tiny

Only in Atlanta can a trip to the mall turn into a concert. Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Toya Carter were out meeting fans when a group of young boys stepped up, opened their mouths and started singing Boyz II Men like they had been rehearsing for this moment their whole lives — and FreddyO’s camera was right there to catch every second of it.

The fellas took on “Thank You,” the feel-good record from Boyz II Men’s classic 1994 album II, and they did not come to play. Taking turns on the lead and stacking those harmonies acapella, with no track and no instruments to hide behind, they had Tiny, Toya and everybody watching grinning from ear to ear, and the shoppers around them stopped to take it all in.

It is a big summer for both ladies. Their BET reality series Tiny & Toya is introducing them to a whole new audience, with Tiny holding it down at home while putting together the OMG Girlz and Toya stepping into a spotlight of her own. Moments like this show exactly why Atlanta loves them — they stopped, they listened, they clapped along and they gave these talented kids their full attention.

As for the boys, something tells us this will not be the last time they sing for a crowd. Anybody who can tackle Boyz II Men acapella in the middle of a busy mall, in front of two of the city’s favorite ladies, has a real future in this business. Press play and enjoy — and remember where you saw them first.

    Frankie Getting Married

Frankie is in love, and she wants the whole world to know it! Keyshia Cole’s mother, Frankie Lons, sat down with FreddyO with her heart on full display, talking about the new man in her life and announcing that she is getting married. Anybody who has ever watched Frankie knows she does nothing halfway — when she is happy, everybody in the room is going to feel it.

In the video, Frankie talks about her new boo, the love of her life, and the plans the two of them are making to tie the knot. She describes her excitement like only Frankie can, laughing and glowing as she shares how this love found her. After everything Frankie has been through in her life — the struggles, the rebuilding of her relationship with her children, the journey to get herself together — hearing her talk about love and a fresh start is something her fans have been waiting to hear.

Frankie became a household name right alongside Keyshia, stealing every scene she was in on Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is with her big personality, her honesty and her one-of-a-kind way with words. Now she and her daughter Neffe are getting ready for their own spotlight, and Frankie’s love life is clearly going to be part of the story. A Frankie wedding? If this announcement is any preview, it will be a celebration full of family, music and unforgettable Frankie moments.

Press play above and hear Frankie announce her big news in her own words, then check the gallery for more classic Frankie — cutting up after her first tattoo and telling it all. Congratulations, Frankie! We wish you and your love nothing but happiness.

  • Reality Star Frankie Cuts A Fool After Getting first Tattoo
    ,

Reality Star Frankie Cuts A Fool After Getting first Tattoo

Leave it to Frankie to turn a simple trip to the tattoo shop into a whole episode! Keyshia Cole’s mama paid a visit to the Swagg Shop in Little Five Points to get her very first tattoo, and FreddyO was right there with the camera rolling as she cut a fool from the moment she walked in. If you know Frankie, then you already know this was not about to be a quiet, sit-down-and-be-still kind of appointment — she had jokes, she had drama, and she had the whole shop laughing.

Frankie Lons has been a fan favorite ever since she popped up on Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is over on BET, where her tell-it-like-it-is personality made her just as talked about as her superstar daughter. Alongside her daughter Neffe, Frankie has become one of the most quotable mamas on reality TV, and Atlanta has truly embraced her as one of our own. Whether she is turning up at the club or holding court at the beauty shop, Frankie is always unapologetically Frankie, and that is exactly why the people love her.

As for the tattoo itself, Frankie played it up for the camera the whole way through — cutting up, talking big and bad one minute and hollering the next, before finally sitting down and taking it like a champ. When it was all said and done, she was proud to show off her fresh ink, grinning ear to ear like only Frankie can. First tattoos are a big deal at any age, and Mama Frankie made hers a moment the whole city can enjoy.

Salute to Frankie for always keeping it 100 with the fans and letting FreddyO ride along for the fun. Press play, get your laugh on, and let us know in the comments what you think Frankie’s next tattoo should be!

  • Fired RHOA star Sheree Whitfield Give to a Homeless man
    ,

Fired RHOA star Sheree Whitfield Give to a Homeless man

This right here is the side of Shereé Whitfield we wish the cameras showed more often. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star was out in the city when she came across a homeless man in need, and without hesitation — no crew moment, no big speech — Shereé stopped and gave from her own pocket to help him out. FreddyO caught the sweet moment, and it’s a beautiful reminder that the most stylish woman in the room can also have the biggest heart in it.

Atlanta has fallen for Shereé since “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” premiered last fall and became Bravo’s latest obsession. Between the fashion, the fabulous parties and that unforgettable “Who gon’ check me, boo?” energy, Shereé has given us plenty of diva moments. But anybody who really knows her story — a single mother building her She by Shereé fashion line and holding her own in a tough season of life — knows there is a generous, grounded woman underneath the designer labels.

That’s what makes this clip so special. Shereé didn’t do it for attention; the man needed help, and she helped, simple as that. She spoke with him like a person, treated him with dignity, and made sure he knew somebody in this city cares. In a town where homelessness is something too many people walk right past, watching one of Atlanta’s most talked-about stars slow down, open her heart and give is the kind of moment that sticks with you long after the cameras stop rolling.

Press play and let this one warm your heart. The handbags and the heels are fabulous, Shereé, but kindness like this is the most beautiful thing you have ever worn — and Atlanta is proud to call you one of our own.

  • Drake first Live Performance in Atlanta 2008
    ,

Drake first Live Performance in Atlanta 2008

Atlanta, let us introduce you to a name you are about to hear a whole lot more: Drake. The Toronto kid everybody has been whispering about — the one who sings and raps, who came up on “Degrassi” and is now running with Lil Wayne’s Young Money crew — hit an Atlanta stage for the very first time back in 2008, and FreddyO had the camera rolling. Long before any arena talk, this is Drake raw, hungry and winning a brand-new city over one song at a time.

If you have “So Far Gone” on your iPod right now, you already know why the room is so locked in. That mixtape has been spreading like wildfire since it dropped in February — “Best I Ever Had” is taking over radio and the clubs, “Successful” with Trey Songz is everybody’s new favorite, and the ladies in the front row are singing every word right back at him. Drake doesn’t perform like a newcomer either. He works the stage, slows it down for the R&B side, then snaps right back into his bars like he has been doing this forever.

Atlanta is a tough crowd to win — this is the city that broke T.I., Jeezy, Ludacris and Outkast, and we can spot a star in about thirty seconds. So when this crowd stays on its feet, phones in the air, calling for more, that tells you everything. With Weezy in his corner and labels in a bidding war over his signature, Drake is clearly next in line, and the A got to see it up close before the rest of the world caught on.

Press play and remember this moment, Atlanta. Every superstar has a first show in the city that people talk about for years, and this is Drake’s — no big production, no gimmicks, just a young artist, a microphone and a crowd that knew it was watching something special.

  • Ciara On Greg Street Show

    Ciara On Greg Street Show

Atlanta’s own Ciara pulled up to V-103 to sit down with the one and only Greg Street, and you already know the city was tuned in. The Princess of Crunk & B is in full promo mode for her brand-new album, and FreddyO has the video of CiCi chopping it up on the Greg Street Show — laughing, talking music, and giving Atlanta the love right back. When a hometown star comes home, it just hits different.

Ciara has a lot to talk about right now. Her third album, “Fantasy Ride,” is about to hit stores, and “Love Sex Magic” with Justin Timberlake is burning up the charts and the clubs — that video alone has everybody talking. On Greg Street’s show, CiCi opens up about the new music, the work she put into this album, and what it means to represent Atlanta everywhere she goes. Greg Street has been breaking records in this city forever, so when he gives an artist his stamp, Atlanta listens.

What we love most is how relaxed and real Ciara is in this interview. This is the same Ciara who made a wish come true for a young fan, who will get on the lanes and bowl with her people — a superstar who never acts too big for her city. From “Goodies” to “1, 2 Step” to this new Fantasy Ride era, she keeps evolving, and Atlanta keeps riding for her because she never forgot where she came from.

Press play and enjoy CiCi in her element — home in Atlanta, on the radio the whole city trusts, with a new album on the way. Fantasy Ride season is officially here, and we are here for all of it.

  • RICK ROSS GOES TO JAIL in Atlanta
    ,

RICK ROSS GOES TO JAIL in Atlanta

FreddyO’s camera was on Peter Street in Atlanta when Miami rapper Rick Ross had a run-in with Atlanta police outside a tattoo shop. In the footage, officers place Ross in handcuffs on the sidewalk as a crowd gathers to watch the scene unfold. Ross was later let go, and he walked away from the incident. We are reporting exactly what the video shows, and you can watch the full clip for yourself and see the moment as it happened.

The incident happened while Ross was in Atlanta during a busy stretch for the rapper. His third studio album, Deeper Than Rap, is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 21, and his single ‘Magnificent’ with John Legend is currently in rotation. Ross, the founder of Maybach Music Group, has been one of the most visible names in rap over the past year, coming off the success of his 2008 album Trilla and singles like ‘Here I Am’ and ‘The Boss.’

No further details about the stop were available at the time this footage was shot, and the video does not show Ross being charged with any offense. What it does show is a brief detention on a public sidewalk, officers speaking with the rapper while onlookers recorded the scene on their phones, and Ross being released shortly afterward. FreddyO will update this story if any official information about the incident becomes available.

Stay tuned to FreddyO.com for the latest on this story out of Atlanta, and let us know what you think in the comments after you watch the footage.

  • T.I. And Usher First Show For Kids B Day Party
    ,

T.I. And Usher First Show For Kids B Day Party

Talk about a throwback! Before the sold-out arenas, before the Grammys and the diamond records, T.I. and Usher were just two hungry kids from Atlanta with a dream, and FreddyO has the vintage footage to prove it. Check out a young Tip and a young Usher performing together at a kids birthday party in the A, their first show together, long before the world knew their names. The talent was already written all over them.

Watching this clip in 2009 is almost unreal when you see where they are today. T.I. is on top of the rap game with Paper Trail, one of the biggest albums in the country, powered by monster hits like ‘Whatever You Like’ and ‘Live Your Life’ with Rihanna. Usher is R&B royalty, fresh off Here I Stand and his smash ‘Love in This Club,’ with a voice and a stage show the whole industry studies. Two Atlanta boys who used to rock birthday parties now run the charts.

That is what makes Atlanta special. This city raises stars in church choirs, school talent shows and neighborhood parties, and it stands behind them until the whole world catches up. Even as kids you can see it: the confidence, the showmanship, the hunger. In the gallery below, catch up with Tip and the cast at The Grand Hustle premiere party, and Q from 112’s birthday celebration right here in the ATL.

Salute to T.I. and Usher for never forgetting where it all started, and to whoever had the camera rolling at that party: you captured history! Press play and take the trip back with us, then tell us in the comments: could you already see the stars they would become?

  • Tip Get The King Medallion
    ,

    Tip Get The King Medallion

All hail the King. Atlanta showed up and showed out for T.I. as Tip was presented with a king medallion fit for the man who has carried this city on his back for years. FreddyO was in the room for the moment — family, friends and Grand Hustle folks all around — as the King of the South got his crown in jewelry form. Say what you want, but nobody can tell Atlanta’s story without T.I., and this night was the city giving its king his flowers.

Look at where Tip is right now. “Paper Trail” is the biggest album of his career — “Whatever You Like” and “Live Your Life” with Rihanna both hit No. 1, “Dead and Gone” with Justin Timberlake is everywhere, and he just took home Grammys. The kid from Bankhead who told the world “I’m King” on “King” back in 2006 has made it plain fact. So when that medallion goes around his neck, it doesn’t look like a costume piece — it looks like it was always supposed to be there.

Everybody in Atlanta also knows Tip has a serious stretch in front of him, with his court date right around the corner, which is exactly why a moment like this matters. This is his people — his family, his team, his city — letting him know they are riding with him no matter what. T.I. has given Atlanta anthems, given young artists a blueprint through Grand Hustle, and put Bankhead on the map for the whole world. A king takes care of his kingdom, and his kingdom remembers that.

Press play and salute the King with us. Long live T.I. — Atlanta’s own, the King of the South, medallion and all.
