Halloween is over, which means only one thing: Mariah Carey says it’s time. The Queen of Christmas dropped her yearly holiday video right as October turned to November.
This year’s video had a twist. It opens with Mariah performing “Hermit,” a song from Chick — a mid-1990s alternative rock project she secretly worked on. She co-wrote and produced the album “Someone’s Ugly Daughter” with singer Clarissa Dane and sang backing vocals, but most fans didn’t know about it until she revealed it in her 2020 memoir.
Then the scene switches to a winter wonderland. Mariah sits on top of a decorated Christmas tree, announces “It’s time,” and slides right into her 1994 classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The yearly video has become a holiday tradition all its own. For millions of fans, Christmas doesn’t officially start until Mariah says so.
Are you ready to put the tree up yet?
