Xscape ‘TONIGHT’ LAST SHOW LA Sold OUT Tour 2018

What a way to close the show! Xscape wrapped up The Great Xscape Tour in Los Angeles with a sold out final night, and FreddyO was there as the ladies brought the house down with their classic ballad ‘Tonight.’ Kandi, Tiny, LaTocha and Tamika had that whole room in the palm of their hands, and when those harmonies hit, it felt like 1993 all over again, only bigger.

Nobody can say this tour was not earned. After reuniting last year and setting the BET Awards and Essence Festival on fire, Xscape took this show on the road with Monica and Tamar Braxton, selling out arenas all across the country while fans watched the behind the scenes story play out on their Bravo special, Xscape: Still Kickin’ It. Los Angeles was the last stop, and the ladies made sure the finale was one for the history books, running through hit after hit for a crowd that sang every word right back to them.

‘Tonight’ has always been one of the records that shows exactly what Xscape is made of. The slow jam from their debut album Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha is all about the voices, no hiding, no shortcuts, just four Atlanta girls blending like only sisters can. Twenty five years after they first hit the scene out of the A, those voices have not lost a single step, and this sold out LA crowd is the proof. This reunion was a long time coming, and Xscape delivered on every single night of it.

He built his Naked Truth ministry in Memphis on meeting people where they are, and he makes it plain: the message matters more than the language it is dressed in, and he would rather be real than be religious.

Happy birthday, NeNe! The Real Housewives of Atlanta star got a surprise worthy of her milestone 50th birthday when powerhouse singer KeKe Wyatt serenaded her with a stunning performance of “You and I.” FreddyO was in the room for the celebration, and the video of Keke’s vocals filling the party is exactly why she is one of the most respected live singers in R&B.

NeNe Leakes has plenty to celebrate. The Georgia peach is back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta for its tenth season, her comedy shows and acting roles keep her booked, and her boutiques and business moves have taken her far beyond the reality show that made her a star. Turning 50 called for something fabulous, and her family and friends delivered a surprise party filled with Atlanta faces, love and laughter.

Then Keke Wyatt took the floor. “You and I” is the hit duet Keke recorded with Avant, a slow-burning love song that topped the charts and still gets couples on their feet. Singing it live, with no studio tricks, Keke reminded everybody in the building what a real voice sounds like. Teri Woods’ Talks “True to the Game” New Movie & How She Sold 2 million Copies

Before street lit had its own section in the bookstore, Teri Woods was the bookstore. The author behind True to the Game stopped through Atlanta as the film version of her classic novel plays in theaters, and FreddyO was there as Woods and the cast talked about bringing one of the culture’s most beloved books to the big screen.

Woods’ story is the blueprint for independent success. Long before any major deals, she was pushing her books hand to hand and building a movement out of pure hustle, and True to the Game went on to sell more than two million copies and make her the godmother of urban fiction. Readers have passed that book around for years, so this movie has been a long time coming.

The film stars Columbus Short as a Philadelphia kingpin whose world collides with a young woman, played by Erica Peeples, who dreams of a life beyond the one around her, with Vivica A. Fox and the late Nelsan Ellis rounding out the cast. Director Preston A. Whitmore II and executive producer Manny Halley told the room how determined they were to do the story justice for the fans who have loved it for so many years.

Killer Mikes at Dick Gregory funeral, Talks about T.I. & His Relationship With Dick

Some voices never leave us. Family, friends, fellow comedians, activists and admirers gathered to celebrate the life of the legendary Dick Gregory, and among them was Atlanta’s own Killer Mike, who paid his respects to a man he calls far more than a comedian. In our exclusive video, Mike reflects on his personal relationship with Mr. Gregory and the wisdom the icon poured into him, and he also shares heartfelt words about his brother T.I. and the bond between them. It is a powerful, thoughtful moment from a day devoted to honoring a giant.

Dick Gregory, who passed away in August at the age of 84, changed America with a microphone. He broke barriers as a groundbreaking comedian in the 1960s, then walked away from easy money to stand on the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement with Dr. King, later dedicating his life to activism, health and telling the truth no matter who it made uncomfortable. To hear a voice of this generation like Killer Mike — an artist who has carried that same torch of social commentary in his music and his community work — speak on what Mr. Gregory meant to him is to watch that legacy pass from one generation to the next.

Mike also opened up about T.I., speaking with respect and brotherhood about Tip, a fellow Atlanta trailblazer who has helped carry the city’s voice and its conscience around the world. On a day set aside for reflection and gratitude, his words were a reminder that the men and women who speak for the people stand on the shoulders of elders like Dick Gregory — and that it is now on them to keep speaking. We join Atlanta and the world in saluting Mr. Gregory’s family, and we thank them for sharing him with us for 84 remarkable years. Rest in power, King.
