The Best Drinking Water For Your Health 2019

It is a brand-new year, Atlanta, and everybody is talking about getting healthy for 2019. New gym memberships, new meal plans, new goals — but FreddyO is starting with the basics: the water you drink every single day. In this video he breaks down the best drinking water for your health, because before the fancy diets and supplements, what you pour into your glass matters more than most of us think.

Walk into any store in the A right now and the water aisle will confuse you if you let it: purified water, spring water, distilled water and alkaline water with pH numbers all over the bottles. Everybody swears their bottle is the best one. FreddyO cuts through the noise and talks about what to actually look for, what he drinks himself and why staying hydrated is one of the simplest health moves any of us can make in 2019.

Think about it: water is in everything your body does, from your energy during the day to how your skin looks on camera. Swapping out even a couple of sodas and sweet drinks a day for water is a change you can feel, and it costs next to nothing to start. This is the kind of real, everyday health talk our community needs, right alongside the checkups, the health fairs and the conversations we are having all over Atlanta about taking better care of ourselves.

Press play, take notes and let us know in the comments what kind of water you are drinking in 2019. Here is to health, Atlanta — one glass at a time!

Peter Thomas Says Dark Skin Black Women Shouldn’t Wear Blonde Hair!!? Reaction

The internet is buzzing this week after Peter Thomas — the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum and Atlanta club owner — shared his thoughts on dark-skinned Black women wearing blonde hair. The clip has sparked a full-blown conversation across social media, and FreddyO is breaking down all the reaction.

In the video, Thomas speaks candidly about beauty standards and his personal preferences when it comes to hair color — comments that immediately got folks talking. Love him or disagree with him, the moment taps into a much bigger and long-running conversation in our community about colorism, beauty ideals and who gets to define what’s beautiful on Black women.

What’s been beautiful to watch is the response. Black women of every shade have been flooding timelines with their blonde looks — honey blondes, platinum bobs, golden highlights — serving as their own rebuttal and celebrating the versatility of Black beauty. From the natural hair movement to the World’s Biggest Black Hair Show, our community has never been short on style or confidence, and this moment is just the latest reminder of that.

Check the gallery below for more FreddyO hair and beauty moments — including 40 shocking hairstyles from the World’s Biggest Black Hair Show and an inspiring story of a teen hairstylist and his mom overcoming depression.

  • Keke Palmer New Movie “PIMP” Recap

Keke Palmer New Movie “PIMP” Recap

Keke Palmer is all grown up, and she is making sure the whole world knows it. The actress takes on the boldest role of her career in the gritty new film Pimp, and FreddyO is recapping the movie everybody is talking about. Playing a young Bronx hustler fighting for money, love and a way forward, Keke delivers the kind of raw, fearless performance that officially closes the door on her child-star era.

What stands out most is how completely Keke disappears into this role. She carries the film with a toughness and an edge we have never seen from her before, and you can feel how personal this project is to her in every scene. With Lee Daniels executive producing, Pimp has been years in the making, and Keke has been front and center the whole way, promoting it like an artist who knows exactly what this moment means for her career.

Between the movies, the music and the hosting gigs, Keke is building a grown-woman resume fully on her own terms, and Atlanta has watched her do it step by step. Pimp is not an easy watch, but it is proof that she can hold down a leading dramatic role with anybody. If you have been sleeping on this new chapter of Keke Palmer, consider this your wake-up call, because she is just getting started.

Press play for our full recap, then hit the comments and tell us: is this Keke’s strongest performance yet, or do you have another favorite from her?

  • 21 Savage Opens Motel 21 Trap Museum & Listening Party

21 Savage Opens Motel 21 Trap Museum & Listening Party

Nobody in Atlanta does an album rollout like this. For the release of his new album I Am > I Was, 21 Savage turned a Decatur motel into Motel 21 — part trap museum, part listening party — and FreddyO was on the scene as the Slaughter Gang boss welcomed close friends and lucky fans inside for a first listen and a walk through the culture that raised him.

The concept is pure 21. Instead of a velvet-rope club night, he put the album inside a roadside motel on Glenwood Road in Decatur and dressed the rooms up as exhibits celebrating trap music and the East Atlanta streets behind it. It is a museum with a heartbeat — the art, the props, and the stories all point back to the world his music comes from, the same world he has been documenting since he broke through and never forgot once the plaques started coming.

And then there is the music. I Am > I Was is 21’s first solo album since Issa Album, fifteen tracks with heavyweight guests, and the listening session gave the room the first real taste of it the night before it hit the world. Everything about this moment says growth: the kid from the 6 Zone is moving like a mogul now, building experiences around the album instead of just dropping it — and doing it right here at home, for the city first.

Press play above and walk through Motel 21 with FreddyO — check out the trap museum rooms and feel the energy inside the listening party — then keep scrolling for more FreddyO exclusives. Is I Am > I Was about to be his biggest album yet? Talk to us in the comments.

  • Jacquees Gives His Mom $100,000 at Her Wedding

Jacquees Gives His Mom $100,000 at Her Wedding

Now this is how you honor the woman who gave you everything. R&B crooner Jacquees made his mama’s wedding day one for the history books when he surprised her with $100,000 — yes, one hundred thousand dollars — right there at her celebration. In front of family, friends and a room full of happy tears, the Decatur singer let his mom know that every sacrifice she ever made has officially been paid back with interest, and FreddyO caught the beautiful moment on camera.

This wasn’t just any wedding, either. R&B songstress Lil Mo blessed the newlyweds with a live performance, the bride was glowing, and the whole room was already emotional before Jacquees ever reached for that gift. When he presented his mom with the money, the crowd erupted — because everybody who knows Jacquees’ story knows this family came up the real way, and his mother has been his rock since long before the record deals and the sold-out shows.

It’s been a breakout year for the 24-year-old. His debut album 4275 dropped this summer with his smash ‘B.E.D.’ still ringing off, he’s been tearing down stages from Clark Atlanta University to every city on his tour route, and he just had the whole internet arguing after calling himself the King of R&B for this generation. Agree or disagree, one thing is for sure: the young man is winning, and instead of stunting on the world, his first big move was to put a life-changing blessing in his mother’s hands on the happiest day of her life.

Fellas, take notes — this is what success is supposed to look like. Congratulations to Mama Jacquees and her new husband on their union, and salute to Jacquees for a moment nobody at that wedding will ever forget. Watch the full video above, and tell us in the comments: what’s the biggest thing you’ve ever done for your mama?

  • Lil Mo Performs at Jacquees Mom Wedding
    ,

Lil Mo Performs at Jacquees Mom Wedding

It was a family affair in Atlanta as R&B singer Jacquees celebrated his mother’s wedding day, and the reception came with a performance money can’t usually buy. Lil’ Mo, the voice behind some of the most beloved R&B records of the 2000s, performed for the bride and groom and their guests, and FreddyO was there to capture the special moment on video.

Jacquees has never hidden how much his mother means to him. The Decatur-born singer has credited her support for carrying him from singing in Atlanta talent shows to a major label deal, a hit with “B.E.D.,” and his debut album 4275, which arrived this summer with his new single “You” heating up for the holidays. So when it came time for his mom to walk down the aisle, her son made sure the day was celebrated in the biggest way, surrounded by family, friends and great music.

Lil’ Mo was the perfect choice for the occasion. From “Superwoman” to her unforgettable hooks with Ja Rule and Fabolous, her voice is the soundtrack to a whole era of R&B, and she still sings with the same power and church-bred soul that made her famous. Watching her perform at a wedding, up close and personal, is a reminder that real singers do not need a big stage or a band full of tricks. All Lil’ Mo needs is a microphone.

The wedding was filled with moments the family will never forget, including Jacquees presenting his mother with a gift of $100,000 during the celebration, a gesture that had the whole room emotional. Congratulations to the happy couple, and salute to Jacquees for honoring his mother the way every parent dreams of being honored. Press play and enjoy Lil’ Mo doing what she does best!

  • Gucci Mane Brings Wife Keyshia Ka’oir On Stage In Atlanta

Gucci Mane Brings Wife Keyshia Ka’oir On Stage In Atlanta

Atlanta loves Gucci Mane, and Gucci loves Atlanta right back! The East Atlanta Santa had the crowd on its feet during his hometown show, and the energy went to another level when he brought out the one and only Mrs. Mane herself, Keyshia Ka’oir. FreddyO was there to capture the moment the Wops took over the stage together, and the building erupted when she walked out.

Gucci’s run since coming home in 2016 has been nothing short of remarkable. He cleaned up, got healthy, dropped project after project and capped it all by marrying Keyshia last October in the lavish 1017 wedding that had everybody talking, a made-for-television celebration of a love story that survived his time away. Through all of it, Keyshia held him down and built her own empire at the same time, from her Ka’oir cosmetics line to her fitness brand.

That history is exactly why an Atlanta crowd reacts the way it does when Keyshia steps into the spotlight beside her husband. The two are Atlanta’s own hip hop power couple, and seeing them together on stage, dripping in ice and feeding off the city’s energy, is a celebration of how far they have both come. Gucci has been on the road sharing music from his recent projects, with his album Evil Genius on the way, and a hometown show is always personal for a man who helped put East Atlanta on the map.

Gucci keeps adding chapters to one of the greatest comeback stories hip hop has ever seen, and Atlanta gets a front-row seat to every one of them. When Mr. and Mrs. Mane are in the building, it is guaranteed to be a movie. Press play and watch the crowd go wild for the Wops!

  • Teyana Taylor Live Vegas “Tempted to Touch 2018

Teyana Taylor Live Vegas “Tempted to Touch 2018

Vegas got a SHOW this weekend! Teyana Taylor hit the stage in Las Vegas and turned all the way up performing “Tempted to Touch,” the dancehall classic, and the Petunia did not come to play. Singing, whining and commanding that stage like only she can, Teyana reminded everybody in the building why she is one of the most electrifying live performers in the game right now. FreddyO was front and center, and yes, the video is just as fire as it sounds.

Teyana is having the year of her life. She dropped her Kanye West-produced album K.T.S.E. this summer, her body is the fitness goal of half the internet, her family show with Iman Shumpert and baby Junie had everybody in love, and every stage she touches turns into a moment. Taking on Rupee’s soca anthem is a flex only an artist with real Caribbean roots and real dance training can pull off, and Teyana — Harlem-born with Trinidadian blood — ate it up like she wrote it.

That is the thing about a Teyana Taylor performance: it is never just singing. It is choreography, attitude, fitness and star power all at once, the full package the R&B girls are measured against since her “Fade” moment broke the internet. Vegas crowds see the biggest shows on earth every night, and she had this one in the palm of her hand from the first wine to the last note.

Press play and watch Teyana work, then tell us in the comments: is anybody touching her as a live performer right now? Vegas saw it live — now it is your turn.

Vocals KING: R&B Singer – TANK “Please Don’t Go” – “When We” Live

This is what real R&B sounds like! Tank took the stage and reminded everybody in the building why he is one of the most respected voices in the game, running through his catalog with the kind of control and passion that separates the singers from the sangers. FreddyO was front and center, and trust us, the vocals in this video are not up for debate.

From the fan-favorite classic “Please Don’t Go” to his smash “When We” off the “Savage” album, Tank had the crowd in the palm of his hand all night. The ladies were on their feet, the fellas were singing along too, and every falsetto run landed exactly where it was supposed to. With his band locked in behind him, the whole set felt like a masterclass in how to work a stage.

What people sometimes forget is how deep Tank’s pen game runs. Beyond his own hits, he has written and produced for some of the biggest names in R&B, and nights like this show exactly why artists trust him with their sound. When he steps out from behind the scenes and grabs the mic himself, it is equal parts talent and testimony: the man lives this music.

Press play on the video above and get into this Tank performance, then tell us if he is in your top five male R&B voices in the comments. Keep scrolling to the gallery for more incredible live singing, including SWV shutting it down and Monica reminding us why hearing her sing is pure joy. Real R&B is alive and well!

Fantasia Live — ‘When I See You’ in Atlanta at Derek Blanks’ 40th

Fantasia gave Atlanta a night to remember, shutting down celebrity photographer Derek Blanks’ 40th birthday celebration with a powerhouse live performance of her classic “When I See You.”

FreddyO was in the building as the Grammy-winning songstress took the stage and reminded everybody exactly why she remains one of the most electrifying live performers in R&B. From the first note, the room was on its feet — phones up, voices singing along — as Fantasia delivered the 2007 smash that spent eight weeks at number one on the R&B charts.

The birthday celebration for Derek Blanks — the famed photographer behind some of the most iconic images in hip-hop and R&B — drew a who’s who of Atlanta’s entertainment scene. And the night was full of unforgettable moments: Keke Wyatt also blessed the stage with a stunning performance, proving once again that when these vocal powerhouses link up, it is nothing short of church.

Fresh off her The Definition Of… era and a summer of show-stopping festival sets, Fantasia continues to prove that her voice only gets better with time. Watch the full performance above — trust us, you will be pressing replay.
